Course Offerings

2009 SVICAC Conference Workshops: Hosted by the San Jose Police Department, the 5th Annual Silicon Valley ICAC Training Conference took place May 13-15, 2009 in San Jose, CA. More than 100 workshops comprised of both computer lab and lecture sessions were offered to attendees. Over 70 talented presenters, who have devoted their careers to protecting children from online exploitation, participated in this 2 ½ day learning experience. Many of the presenters are also active instructors for the ICAC Training and Technical Assistance training programs.  The overarching theme for 2009 built upon the collaborative model outlined in the Attorney General’s Project Safe Childhood initiative. Federal, state and local law enforcement investigators and prosecutors were in attendance. Twelve selected workshops have been videotaped for your review in this distance learning opportunity.

Basic Skills Computer Course: The Basic Computer Skills Course was developed by the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Training and Technical Assistance Program (ICAC), the National White Collar Crime Consortium (NW3C), and SEARCH.  Working together, these programs have identified basic computer and investigative skills that are consistent for their respective areas of focus. The course is used to insure that you are sufficiently prepared to attend the computer investigation classes offered by ICAC, NW3C and Search.  By creating these courses together students will be able to obtain the basic skills needed for training through any of the organizations.  The hope is to reduce training costs and time away from their agencies when sending their investigators to computer training. The Basic Computer Skills course covers computer components, basic keyboard and mouse skills, file structures and file manipulation, the basic Window environment, and how to install programs.
